Chapter 6

"Are you sure you want to do this, Rex?"

Uri sat next to Rex at the bar with his mind racing. It's been two years since he last killed someone, and he promised himself he wouldn't go back to doing that. His whole reason for taking rapping seriously was to have a clean conscience.

"This man raped my girl for I don't know how many years, and you want me just to let it go. Nah, I don't care how much I've changed. I'm handling this nigga with or without you." The anger Rex felt toward Aspen's adoptive family was felt through the entire bar. Luckily, it wasn't many people around, and the people who were inside understood how he felt.

"I'm riding, regardless. We just need to map this out correctly. We're not in the streets anymore, so we have to move smart. We got too much shit to lose."

As pissed off as Uri was, he had to be the one to move smartly. Rex was known to be a hothead, and if it weren't for Uri, he would have been in jail somewhere a long time ago.

"You're right, but dude is dying, and his fucked-up wife is too." Downing another shot, Rex slammed the glass on the bar top, breaking it.

"Yo' bring me our bill. Come on, bro, so that we can get the fuck out of here."

Helping Rex up, Rex paid their bill and tipped the bartender. "I'm sorry about this," he apologized.

Walking outside, Uri spotted Aspen and Bresha. While Rex was drinking, Uri made sure to text Aspen to come to get Rex. "Thanks, sis. Text me when you get home."

"No problem." Getting in the driver's seat of Rex's car, Aspen reached over and rubbed his face.

"You okay?" Jumping on the highway, Aspen merged into the traffic.

"I will be."

Putting his hand on Aspen's leg, Rex closed his eyes and let the wind hit his face. It's been a long time since he was this drunk, and he was regretting taking all the shots with nothing on his stomach. Killing Aspen's dad was on his mind heavy.

Taking that as a sign that he didn't want to talk, Aspen put on her song that she wrote for him to ease his mind.

"I been thinking about fucking with you, loving you been on my mind. Wanting you to take me out of my misery and teach me what love really is."

Aspen's voice played through the car, and Rex opened his eyes to look at her. "Was this about me?" His sleepy voice made Aspen almost soak through her panties.

"Yes, can you teach me how to love?" Aspen placed her hand on top of his on her thigh and smiled over at him.

"We can teach each other." Closing his eyes again, Rex fell asleep while Aspen got them home safely.

Walking into the house, Aspen used Rex's keys to let them in. "Go lay down while I make you something to eat and drink," she instructed.

Kicking his shoes off, Rex went and started himself a shower.
